• RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION

Our team consisting of ethnologists and photographers will be searching for Pomeranian shrines and collecting documentation, visual and descriptive. Our experts will find out about the role that rural shrines play in life of local societies and the photographers will take photos which will be posted on our website to enable you virtual walks around the objects.

  • MUSIC FOR SHRINES AND CHURCHES

Folk sacred music of Norway, Iceland and Pomerania will inspire us to write compositions accompanying our film production and they will be performed on seven concerts. Person responsible for the music will be Rafał Kowal, author of film and theatrical music, in cooperation with dr Dagmara Łopatowska-Romsvik from the Institute of Musicology, Jagiellonian University in Kraków who is an expert in Scandinavian folk music.

  • FILM

Artistic and promotional film will be an interesting form of familiarizing with the chosen sacred objects. We intend to use it at our educational meetings in Lędowo, Sławoszyno and Budapest. We are also planning to emit it in local TV stations.

  • MONOGRAPHS

Scientific potential of our undertaking will be proven by two unique monographs popularizing sacred objects from different parts of Europe. Dr Wojciech Tadeusz Lange will create the first monograph of Norwegian stavkirke churches written in Polish and dr Tadeusz Siemiński – first monograph of Gdańsk Pomerania shrines written in English.

  • CLICK ON THE MAP

We will keep on adding new objects to the MAP which was introduced during the previous project Save the National Heritage. Precisely determined geographical coordinates of all objects will enable you to find even the most hidden shrine. Rich photographical documentation, available in PhotoSynth technology, will also allow – without going out of your house – watching each of the objects in a 3D space and taking a closer look at the details.

  • TRIP TO ICELAND, TAKING PHOTOS OF NORWAY

During their visit to Iceland our team will take documentary photos that will serve as a basis for creating virtual walks and they will take artistic photos of Icelandic churches later presented on exhibitions and on our websites.

  • ARTISTS AND SHRINES

Additionally to documentary photos we are planning to take artistic photos of Gdańsk Pomerania shrines. We will invite artists from Norway and Iceland (Włodek Witek, Jónas Hallgrímsson) and Poland (Dariusz Kula, Tomasz Zerek, Magdalena Ubysz i Marek Piosik).

Using differentiated photographic techniques, the artists will create individual portraits of Pomeranian shrines.

  • VISIT TO NORWAY

Our team will travel to Norway to take documentary photos which will serve as a basis for virtual walks and artistic photos of Norwegian stavkirke churches later presented on exhibitions and on our websites.

  • EXHIBITIONS

The culmination of the project Remnants of Prayers will be a multimedia exhibition that we are planning to display in four places: National Museum in Gdańsk, Gerduberg Cultural Center in Reykjavik, Muzeul Naţional al Ţăranului Român in Bukarest and Adam Mickiewicz University Botanical Garden in Poznań. The exposition will familiarize you with the chosen sacred object and enable you to learn about the unique elements of the European cultural heritage.
